Property Overview
The Copper Basin Site is a collection of six (6) lode mining claims located in the Monumental Mining District of San Bernardino County, California. The property has a well-documented history of early gold production which quickly gave way to a massive copper deposit. In 1996, Western Copper Holdings conducted a drill program and defined blocked reserves of at least 12.5 Million tons of copper. 7.4 Million tons CU at 0.75% and 5.1 Million tons CU at 0.55%. A total of at least 167 Million lbs of copper blocked for recovery.
The property is remote and located in the Whipple Mountain range of San Bernardino County. The property is well off the Whipple Mountain Wilderness and development would have no impact on the wilderness. This is further defined in resource reports by the USGS that specifically detail the deposits at the Copper Basin site.
The property spans over a large deposit that has been geologically assessed. The blocked reserves represent a fraction of the estimated copper reserves at the site. The main mine camp contains crumbling warehouses with thousands of core and soil samples from the drill work in 1996.
The Copper Basin property has been worked since the early 1900s and was mothballed at the end of WWII due to dropping copper prices. The property never lapsed and in the early 1980s was sold to Louisiana Land and Exploration Company for a reported $7.1 Million dollars. The Louisiana Land Company leased the property to Western Copper Holdings who did the drilling on the site.
The property is largely as it was left in 1996. Western Copper did extensive exploration on the site including many dozer cuts to expose the copper deposits. They also did extensive core drilling and samples, many of which are still on the site.
This is a large site for holding or for commercial development. This site will not be workable by small scale mining operators. There are no JV Options available for this property.
Gold Rush Expeditions, Inc. does offer mining consultation services and assistance with permits for a small fee.
