Property Overview

The Gold Dust Property encompasses the Historic Gold Dust and Homestake Properties. The Gold Dust mine operated from 1876 (?) up until the late 1970s. The Homestake mine which is located higher up on the mountain, above the Gold Dust, began operating in 1880. A tram system connected the Homestake to the Gold Dust property for the purpose of milling ores. At least 21 tram cars were operational on the lines.
The Gold Dust property also pushed significant gold values, averaging 0.108 oz. per ton, but some noted pockets as high as 6 ounces per ton.
A 1993 Survey by a mining development operation proposed that geologically the gold lodes worked by the Gold Dust Mines were extensions of the apex vein at the Homestake Property.
The portal at the Gold Dust and the Homestake were backfilled as part of a reclamation project in 1996-1999 but all mineral rights were left intact for future development. Gold is abundant today at the property. It can be found in much of the dump material with just casual observation. The mill site has unprocessed dumps with average assays of 1.3 oz. per ton AU with visible gold material. There is also tails that have not been impounded which average 0.23 oz. per ton in gold. This indicates that average recovery at the mill was about 80%.
The Gold Dust and Homestake were mothballed in 1940 due to the War Act and struggled to recover after due to the remote location and short season for mining in the high country.
Excellent opportunity to establish a small or large scale mining operation with significant reserves available.

Gold Rush Expeditions, Inc. does offer mining consultation services and assistance with permits for a small fee.

Training courses for underground work and exploration can be found here: https://stayoutstayalive.com/training/
