Property Overview
The H & S is primarily a Silver and lead mine with blocked Gold/Silver/Lead reserves located in the southwest corner of Beaverhead County in Montana. Dillon, MT is the closest town with services and it is roughly 55 miles away.
The H & S has a well documented history of lead production at 6% or more and high grade silver veins, some as high as 35 ounces per ton. Gold has been a small side product being less than 1/10th of an ounce per ton. The Chinatown Gold Placers are well documented and located just a short distance below the H & S, however the gold found at the placer mine is not thought to be from the deposits of the H & S.
The drifts and workings of the H & S have been carefully mapped as far back as 1961 and show the high value silver deposits which have not yet been extracted. At least 600' are mapped on the main level. The upper levels were developed in the late 1950s to more easily access the "pay-streaks". 300' of workings are discussed in the mining report.
The high grade orebody that has been mapped and noted as blocked reserves is stated to be 717,560 tons. This at 11oz. of silver per ton and 600lbs of lead per ton. Gold recovery is calculated at 23,320 oz.
Smelter receipts are available from the last work at the site.
Excellent site for small scale development with substantial silver deposits.
Gold Rush Expeditions, Inc. does offer mining consultation services and assistance with permits for a small fee.
Training courses for underground work and exploration can be found here: https://stayoutstayalive.com/training/
