Property Overview
The Hancock is a 20 acre lode property roughly 1.3 miles east of Hancock Pass in Chaffee County, Colorado. The site boast excellent access with high clearance 4WD. The site is accessed via public roads with no private crossings.
Ores in the mine show an oxidized iron in quartz with some gold flecks. Small stringers of gold can be seen in sulfide veins that carry some lead and silver as well. The portal is located at 11,450 elevation. Access will be primarily summer and fall. Outside access will be via snowmobile which allowed in the area.
The main haulage portal of the mine shows minimal deposits, however there is a winze that winds up to another level of the mine. This would have been accessed by the shaft that is further up the hill. The shaft has been covered by slough and loose rock, but could be easily cleared with. The shaft and upper levels show similar sulfide deposits as would be expected in the area. Gold is common in the area and runs with silver and some platinum instances.
12 Chip samples taken from vein material in the mine gave an average 0.9 oz/T AU. Samples taken from the dump and some staged material outside returned an average of 0.71 oz/T AU and 9.4 oz/T AG. The dump is an estimated 122,990 consisting of rough, unprocessed sulfide and quartz material.
The main haulage is 620' with a winze at 575'. The winze runs up 112' to a slough blockage. A drift level is at 65' and 90' measured up from the haulage level. The pay ore is in sulfide with quartz. The gold is native and can be gravity separated with a minimal loss.
This is an ideal property for a small mine developer. It provides the opportunity for growth of the site in the future, but also a good start with recoverable gold in appreciable quantities. Water is available on site and is usable as part of riparian rights. Timber is also subject to riparian rights.
Gold Rush Expeditions, Inc. does offer mining consultation services and assistance with permits for a small fee.
