Property Overview
The Hidden Splendor is the crowning jewel of the uranium mines of the San Rafael region. The mine was located in 1952 by Vernon Pick with values of 1%-34% uranium values. The high value material was locked behind and iron door in the mine to keep the radiation from drifting.
Property was defined as having massive reserves of Uranium ore with vanadium. The property was sold several times before 1965 when Ralph J. Hafen took control of the site. Mr. Hafen provided some leases to interested parties but did not allow mining without substantial dividends. As such, the property was never fully developed.
Mr. Hafen held the property until his death in 2018. Gold Rush Expeditions, Inc. had eyes on the project and had conducted several surveys of the region. It was acquired directly from the estate and there has been no break in the custody of the site.
The property does meet boundaries with the San Rafael Wilderness, however the deposit and access to the workings are well off the wilderness boundaries. There are no restrictions with development of the site.
The Hidden Splendor site has been controlled by a single owner for over 55 years and not been disturbed in that time. The property contains very impressive deposits of massive petrified material containing raw uranium and has been developed by a series of drifts documented to be over 2200’ and 5 separate adit entrances.
The lower bunk house and camp are not contained on the claims as they have no real value or interest in relation to the mineral deposits. The claims are written to specifically intercept the Chinle and Shinnarump formations which are well noted to contain the highest concentrations of uranium ore.
Gold Rush Expeditions, Inc. does offer mining consultation services and assistance with permits for a small fee.
