Property Overview
The Lisbon Uranium site is a well defined deposit that is thought to have been located in 1952 by a small group of prospectors looking for Uranium.
Uranium, vanadium and copper were found in the area while examining a number of natural caves in the area. Many of the caves contained high radiation levels and decaying materials.
There is also extensive fluorite and calcite in the area, both of which take on a yellow hue if located near the uranium ores.
The Lisbon property was a compilation of a series of adits and pits that explored a seam which contained high value uranium in the form of decaying organic material such as trees and vegetation. There is/was a mill on the site that performed rudimentary crushing of the material so that only the high grade yellow cake material was shipped. As a result, there is an abundance of good uranium ore near the mill that has been discarded.
The mine operated from 1954-1967 according to local accounts. There is no defined number on the amount of ore that was produced from the site.
The property has had a rudimentary reclamation processed so there are no open pits or dangerous aspects. The deposits have not been removed and the property is well mapped to the locations of the high grade ore deposits.
The site ceased mining operations in 1957 or thereabouts when the AEC stopped purchasing ores and paying for prospectors to located deposits.
The site has been examined by several federal agencies and noted as a significant uranium deposit, however no action has been taken with the exception of reclamation activities in 2022.
Gold Rush Expeditions, Inc. does offer mining consultation services and assistance with permits for a small fee.
