Property Overview
The Puzzler Mine is also associated with the Joan Mine and the Harry Aune Mine, all located within the same PLSS section. Historical documents lend that the Puzzler was the larger property with cabins, 4 adits and several shafts. This matches what is seen on this property.
The site was accessed by the United States Bureau of Mines in 1987 and reported assays of 3.27 oz. AG, 9% lead and 0.25 oz AU. The material on site matches up with USBM assessment of a garnet-quartz lode with copper and metal deposits running in calcite.
Surveyors took samples from main (largest) adit behind the cabin and the dump piles associated. Average returns showed 2.1 oz. AG/T, 0.065 oz. AU/T and 8.5% copper (lbs per ton).
Beautiful setting up a remote canyon with no other access points. Water is available at the mine and below in the creek. Road is in generally good repair and can be easily accessed with most 4WD vehicles.
At the main camp there is a usable cabin with an adit situated behind it. This adit is discharging a small amount of water. A horse stable and possible workshop building is just south of the cabin but is in rough shape.
A footpath from the cabin leads around the south slope of the mountain to several small adits which are open and contain lode veins with silver. The workings directly behind the cabin are short, less than 50' and may have been used for cold storage.
A larger mine is north-west of the mine camp and shows copper mineralization with some galena. This mine appears to be a larger working based on the large gauge track that is protruding from the portal. The entrance has been blasted and would need to be excavated. There is a small shaft above the portal that appears to be cut into barren material. It is less than 10' deep and does not interconnect.
A very desirable site with excellent development potential for copper. Single canyon access road also provides peace of mind that you will know when someone is on their way up to your site.
Gold Rush Expeditions, Inc. does offer mining consultation services and assistance with permits for a small fee.
