Property Overview

The Rio Vista is a massive gold and copper project located in the Cienega District of La Paz, Arizona. The property has been well known for development of copper and some gold as far back as 1911 when the site was visited by noted Bureau of Mines Engineer Howland Bancroft.
The property is developed on both sides of a low range of the Cienega Mountains. The developments on the north face were earlier. In 1920 or thereabouts the south side of the mountain was opened up by a series of adits and shafts that explored the shear zones and produced thousands of tons of copper and gold ore.
United States Bureau of Mines reports state that the ore from the north side, known to be a lesser grade, averaged 5% or better in copper, 0.5 oz/T AU and 0.3 oz/T AG.

There is approximately a quarter of a million dollars in development work upon the Rio Vista Group. There is about 1,000 feet of vertical and incline shaft work and about 3000 feet of tunnel and other workings. There is considerable surface work on these claims. The main workings are the 6’ x 12’ timbered vertical double compartment shaft with numerous tunnels and other workings on the claims. These are known as the Rio Vista South Side workings. There is a 240 foot incline shaft and a 135 foot vertical shaft with a number or tunnels and other workings on the Quartz Hill No. 2 known as the Rio Vista North Side.

Quartzite and schist predominate in this mining property. The mineralized zone traversing the sedimentary ·ridge is from the north to the south. Starting at the North side workings and, ending beyond the main workings of the south side at a distance of around 2,000 feet, is a huge mineralized fault zone from 100 to 200 feet wide. Traversing the said mineralized zone are three major fissure veins, from four to around ten feet wide. These veins strike north and south, dip 80 degrees west from the horizontal.
Many of the workings referred to expose reserves of low grade copper-gold ores. It is difficult to attempt to make a proper sampling of these disseminated ores by ordinary channel methods of sampling. However, several hundred assays were taken by the previous owner.
These assays average from trace to around 2.5 ounces (per ton) the average is 0.2 oz/T AU. The copper values range from a trace to about 30%. The higher grade copper ores occurring in smaller lenses.

The Property is in a state of readiness for development and has excellent road access. It is also less than 1500’ from commercial grade power and water.

Gold Rush Expeditions, Inc. does offer mining consultation services and assistance with permits for a small fee.
